✩NATALIE PERI’S STAR IS ON THE RISE✩ By Sandra Castillo
Ever since she was a little girl, Natalie Peri always knew, in the depth of her heart, that she wanted to be an actress, a model and singer. Of course, so many children dream of doing these things before life has yet to fully unfold and the reality of such rigors and the discipline it takes to achieve such goals is light years away from the one with a million stars in her eyes. However, for Natalie, it became her steadfast mission in life to follow the stirrings of her beating heart, which eventually paved the way to turn her childhood whimsies into a bona fide reality.
At the age of 13, Natalie began acting and singing in school plays. When she attended Performing Arts High School, she took her burgeoning talents to her local community theater and, subsequently, off-Broadway plays. She studied acting at HB Studios, where she learned under the tutelage of mentors on how to perfect her acting skills. In time, all of this paid off dearly for Natalie, as she began her journey as an actress in movies, television and more off-Broadway productions.
Blessed with a natural beauty, Natalie’s flowing, blonde locks, expressive brown eyes and stature has been her calling card for many modelling assignments, including a placement on a billboard for Crunch Fitness and the cover of Style Magazine. Her flair and keen fashion sensibilities also make her the perfect model for print and film.
Besides acting and gracing the camera, Natalie has also been entertaining audiences with song. For the past five years, she has been part of a singing duo, Rockin Robin, which covers classic tunes from the ‘50s, ‘60s, ‘70s and more. The group is highly in-demand for corporate events and parties and is a big favorite in Long Island, New York, where Natalie puts the number of shows that she and her cohort have done at more than 2000.
Not one to rest on her laurels, even for a second, Natalie has just wrapped up filming an action flick called ‘The Gathering’ and ‘The Rite To Live.’ Currently, she is involved with several other projects, including ‘Physch Ruins’ and ‘Sabonia.’ One of her writing assignments, titled “Jessica Lives,” is in negotiations to be turned into a script for a feature film. Very shortly, she is slated to be featured in ‘Last Rite Vampire Hunter,’ ‘Cruise’ and ‘Toca.’
As Natalie continues to pursue film, the echoes of television still lure her to its corridors, as well. She is working on an up-and-coming series, Night Life, where her character, Dawn Turner, is a detective, who goes undercover to infiltrate the Vampire Clan. The vehicle, written and directed by BK Coposky, will definitely give her the opportunity to show off dramatic skills as a lead actress. Natalie has also been cast in a TV western series, ‘Big Sky,’ as Katt McCall.
Such exposure on film and stage have certainly given Natalie the edge and what it takes to establish herself in any media format. She has been interviewed on countless TV talk and radio shows, including a stint as a co-host on the popular “Vic Terno Cable Midnight Show.” Natalie has more than 7,000 followers on social media, which will only double, triple in size as her star continues to rise.
Natalie sang on SCTV, at Time-Warner Live, this past August, with her original, new composition, “No Matter What.” It has been reported that she shot a music video with Fred Coscia, the television host of “Who Do You Like TV?” recently, a creative collaboration, which gave Natalie and Fred a chance to connect as artists and constituents.
Childhood dreams really do come true, especially for you, Natalie Peri…
RG: What inspired you to pursue acting as a career?
Natalie: I knew I wanted to be a performer when my cousins and I used to act out TV shows
I always wanted to be the lead actress. Also I was always singing in chorus etc.,
But I had a stuttering problem so I wouldn’t audition for plays in school and I was shy
Until one day I was singing in chorus the drama teacher heard me sing a solo
He approached me and said, “Natalie you have a gift. I think you should bring your gift on stage
and let the people see what you can do. I think that would help you a lot in stuttering your shyness and people see your talent”. And he was right because as soon as I was on that stage in the wizard of oz, I wasn’t shy anymore and the stuttering slowly went away, because I was in every play in school and Community Theater after that. Thank You Mr. Shackner for bringing out what I already had.
RG: Do you have any favorite actor(s), in film, television or the stage, whom you admire?
Natalie: I actually admire a lot of actors and actresses. I would love to work with Bruce Wills, I would love if he called me, and said Natalie I want to put you in my next film. Hey a girl can dream:) I
Love his acting his movies his personality I think we would be great together in a movie action thriller , drama , etc.,
Robert Deniro of course because he is an icon!!! At first I would be intimidated but I would want him to help me in my weaknesses and make me a better performer. Also Sly Stallone, I would love to be in Expendable 4 as an action star..I also like Ryan Gosling, Colin Farrell, Chris Evans, Chris Pine, and a lot more. Actresses I love.. Amy Adams, I would love to work with her, Kate Hudson, Jodie Forster, there are a lot more lol!!!!
Meryl Streep Also she can act and sing like me; maybe we can do another musical together.
And Angelino Jolie she has done it all, acted, produced, directed, etc., I would love to work with her too I have a long list.
RG: What is your advice to someone who is interested in pursuing a career in the acting field?
Natalie: I have said this before anybody who wants to pursue in acting, first get ready for a lot of rejection.
This is very competitive. And you can also write your own script shoot it for nothing get yourself out there I did I wrote a short Story called keep your sunny side up. I produced it starred and directed it. I also wrote another script shot the trailer called Jessica Lives that are in negotiations now to become a feature film. There will be people who tell you, “You got it or you don’t”, but if you really want it, follow your dream and get ready to work hard I mean long hours for no pay for starting.
A lot of traveling etc., And the most important thing if someone puts you down do not take it personal I learned that. Keep going I mean you have to have the determination and the drive because if you don’t it won’t work out, people ask me how do I do it acting, singing, writing, recording,
All the traveling etc., I tell them it’s my determination I want this so bad I don’t care if I’m working 24 hours straight or traveling across country for a role, this is the only time I’m happy is when I’m in front of the camera, I’m in my zone and a lot of directors see it and tell me I have charisma and that you can’t teach. I’m told I got it I just have to be seen by the right people.
But the people I have met in the last 2 years are great and they know who they are because I feel my dreams are coming true and I know soon I will be seen and become a super star, this might sound corny but I almost gave it up when I got sick in 2010, but I think I got sick and then got better for me to be more determined and have more of a drive, I know God has that plan for me
And make my dreams come true.
RG: Where do you hope to be in five years?
Natalie: I want to be known as an a-list actress doing at least 10-20 movies or TV a year, horror, action, dramas, thrillers, comedy’s etc.,
I want to be in so many projects that I want to be able to choose which script and movie or TV
